The shaft of the club is the next thing that you need to examine.  Make sure graphite shafts don’t have worn areas or indentations that could cause weakness.  Twist the grip and the head in opposite directions.  If you don’t feel a lot of resistance, you will know that there is some weakness in the shaft.  You only need to do this test with a graphite shaft.  With steel shaft golf clubs, just look down the shaft to make sure it hasn’t been bent back into shape.

You will also need to make sure the grips in used golf golf clubs are good.  Common things that you need to be aware of will be splits in the grip, worn spots, and cracks.  Used golf clubs can have new grips installed on them, but it is not cheap and can add a cost factor of around 6 to 15 dollars for each one of the clubs.

Does the set have consistency?  Compare them all by lining them up.  Make sure they all appear to have been in the original set. You want your used golf clubs to all be the same make and model that they are supposed to be.  Mixing and matching can throw off the progression of lofts throughout the set.

Make sure that you do a price comparison between the cost of the used clubs that you are looking at and a new set.  Sometimes you can get a new set for less than what the used set is selling for.  Golf stores often have some really great money saving discounts on golf clubs so when looking at used ones try not to rush into anything.

Until you make a few test swings with a set of used golf golf clubs, you will never know how well they will perform.  Find a good location that you can take a few test swings to see how they are going to feel.
